Canucks (sp?)

I think I offended a guy from Toronto today when I tried to explain to him where Kansas was. He had this look on his face that seemed to scoff at the idea that he might not know the geography of the USA. I was just giving my usual spiel about where I'm from, as most people I talk to here have no clue where Kansas is. I forgot that this probably doesn't apply to Canadians. Oh well, he made a Dorothy/Wizard of Oz joke, so I guess he deserved it. Did I just reference the Wizard of Oz two posts in a row? I must be homesick again.

There are plenty of people in Philly who don't know where Kansas is... always confusing it with Nebraska.

I was in Florida and when I told this guy where I was from, he said, "Oh yeah, the city with the McDonald's arches". Um...just one arch, Jethro...and it was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen not Ronald McDonald. I wondered how many other people think our Arch has something to do with hamburgers!

erika--did the canuck happen to have a shaggy fro, 5 0'clock shadow, and dreamy raspy voice and sing wonderful songs about skates, stems and dynamite walls?

I've finally embraced teh dorothy thing after many, many, many times of being teased, so I found myself some way cool ruby red slippers. Now if only they worked I'd save more money on flying.

jj-

way to embrace your heritage, and rock some flashy shoes at the same time. I admire your spunk!
