Among Other Things...

I started my third part-time job last week. I've said on many occasions that I was born to work part-time, but this is getting a little out of control. Guess that Hong Kong tendency to overwork one's self has mosied it's way into my life. Needless to say, I've been a little swamped lately. I've still got one more Chinese New Year's post coming in the next few days (as soon as I get a moment to sit down and take a breath), but until then, this little update will have to do.

To explain my third job, I've been helping some friends launch CHOCOLUX, a French-style Cafe, complete with yummy, yummy crepes and mouth-watering chocolates. They've already got one location in a trendy district of Hong Kong, but it's more night club than restaurant. This second location is strictly cafe and is nestled amidst the crowds of the subway system. So, tomorrow is the grand opening, complete with a lion dance. (I'll explain that soon enough.) It's gonna be a doozy of a day, but worth the effort. (Cross your fingers!) Tonight I'm tumbling into bed way past midnight, stuffed with lots of tasty samples from today's kitchen training sessions. Unfortunately it also fell to me to sample the coffee drinks and the 6 or so coffee/chocolate drinks I sampled are fueling my desire to write this post. Falling asleep tonight could prove difficult.

And, Matt is still far, far away in the Island of Rhode, and I miss him. Alot. He keeps me sane during times like this.

Wish me luck!

mmm good luck! I know your husband has been away (thanks for sharing him with the near East), but I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for you given that you've been sampling (for free!) the heady combination of two of my most beloved indulgences--

by the way, I had no idea there would be a market for fine french cuisine in the home of the salmon pizza.

Bradley-
Would that be the Norwiegen Salmon Cream Cheese Stuffed Crust Seafood Pizza from Pizza Hut HK that you're referring to?

Yup, that one leaves the market wide-open for some fine French cuisine.

I was worried about you. You've been mysteriously absent from the web since ol' Matt left. I'm glad to hear it was chocolate and creativity holding you hostage and not that you bought back your tv and have been hiding between the couch cushions with bags and bags of chips!

LL-

Actually, I had a serious potato chip binge shortly after matt left, but haven't touched 'em since then. Might just swear them off for good. Well, after I finish the bag of crunchy cheetos he's bringing to HK for me. :) And yes, I have been very, very busy. Perhaps too busy.

I have to say--as a chocolate addict, I'm very jealous of your new job! Some days I just wish I could eat so much chocolate that I would get sick from it and never crave it again. Maybe if I had your job I would. :)

I'm so sorry Matt is still gone--I hope he gets home soon. Hang in there, friend! We miss you!

hey congrats on the new job. is 3 jobs the most you've had at one time? i know you were working 3 jobs at one point in lawrence. i admire your endurance! but it seems that it is rewarded quite nicely with the goodies and lion dances.
