Decaffeinated

My husband gave up coffee today. This is a man who can drink an entire pot of coffee at 11pm and still fall asleep within minutes of getting into bed. I'm inclined to think he's an addict, but quitting cold-turkey like this seems a bit drastic. His dependence on caffeine has become quite evident tonight, though. He passed out on couch within an hour of coming home from work and hasn't moved yet. He's out cold. Poor guy. This could be a rough month for us...

Good for Matt! Hope he doesn't have too many terrible withdrawal symptoms! :)

Woah...I caught my breath when I read the post....I can't wait for updates on how he's doing! Why the switch?

We're rootin' for ya, Matt!! (and supportive wife #1 Erika ;)

Stock up on the tylenol, or advil. I still get crazy headache withdrawals when I give it up randomly -- and I only drink a cup a morning. :)

Randall gives it up every summer. I can't imagine the kind of withdrawal Matt will be going through. Good luck to you all!

wait a sec, i see a beer in the background. could that have anything to do with his sleepiness?
i went cold turkey off coffee after grad school and tea became my saving grace :)

I was the same way with Diet Coke and I did it. I just wanted to sleep ALL the time and realized that I couldn't be awake without caffeine. I eventually got over that.

I had to detox one time-Dr's orders-the trick is to detox from everything at once. No tylenol, no advil, no caffeine. It's a shitty two weeks, but after that you feel better than ever. Good luck to both of you, but especially Erika who may take the brunt of the grumpiness! :-)

wow! you can do it, matt (and erika)! these big life changes certainly happen easier with the help of others. supportive and understanding spouses are important in accomplishing the goals whether it be staying out of the way, showing extra patience or giving some extra encouragement in ways that only they know will cheer up their mate (i'm not suggesting naughtiness although it may apply). i know this is a huge life change! Good Luck!

Yeah I think we both started drinking coffee in middle school and he would actually bring coffee he had to grind on the ski trips. Although I had to quit drinking it cold turkey for medical reasons and have been caffeine free (I can't drink soda either) for over a year now....so if I could do it I know he can. Though my hubby didn't quit with me...big dork.

Coffee tastes good though... I'm just sayin'...

Not a fan of this at all...

Why quit something that feels so good? Its just plain senseless.
